Ho Logitech c920 configurato. Con l'aiuto di un utente Ask Ubuntu esperto, ho installato GUVCview, il pannello di controllo Linux di Video4 e il tester di utilità QT V4L2 qui. Posso passare dalla webcam integrata del mio Toshiba alla mia webcam esterna utilizzando GUVCview.
Tuttavia, quando avvio una videochat su Google Hangouts, seleziona automaticamente la fotocamera del mio laptop integrata come predefinita. Vorrei modificare le mie impostazioni predefinite per utilizzare sempre una videocamera esterna, ma non riesco a trovare dove si trovi questa opzione.

EDIT:ho provato Gstreamer-properties nel terminale e modificato l'input predefinito sotto il video in cam esterna Logitech. Ancora nessuna fortuna. Quando "prova" non ottengo alcuna immagine e ricevo ancora la videocamera del laptop quando apro GUVC.

Se eseguo Gstreamer-properties nel terminale ottengo il selettore multimediale. Cambio l'input predefinito su esterno, la luce blu sulla cam esterna si accende (quando premo "test"), ma nessuna immagine.

Bene, questo tipo di è caduto morto nell'acqua. Non so se devo postare un altro thread o cosa. Sto semplicemente cercando di rendere la mia webcam esterna la mia webcam predefinita. Ho installato Gstreamer (nella foto) Ho installato il selettore dei sistemi multimediali. Ho le impostazioni predefinite nel selettore dei sistemi multimediali da impostare sulla webcam c920, eppure quando apro la chat video o GUVC, si apre la videocamera del laptop.
Ho ricevuto aiuto su questo e l'ho seguito. Ma ancora non riesco a farlo funzionare. Qualcuno ha qualche idea o dovrei postare da qualche altra parte? Grazie

Sulla base della risposta di @hopeithelps, sembra che i programmi prendano /dev/video0 come webcam predefinita. Sul mio sistema, /dev/video0 è inizialmente la fotocamera integrata, mentre /dev/video1 appare/scompare automaticamente quando la webcam esterna viene collegata/scollegata.
Quindi ho appena scritto un semplice comando per impostare /dev/video0 in modo che punti alla "migliore fotocamera disponibile":la webcam se è presente e la fotocamera integrata in caso contrario. Al momento devo invocare questo script manualmente dopo aver collegato/scollegato la webcam. Tuttavia, il microfono passa automaticamente al "miglior microfono" perché ho seguito questa risposta di askUbuntu.
Rant:Ubuntu non dovrebbe avere un approccio unificato all'hot plug di display, fotocamera, altoparlante, microfono (e anche tastiera, mouse, MIDI, ...?). Tutte queste cose sembrano richiedere un armeggiare separato. Penso che gnome-display-manager abbia il design ideale:ricorda le mie vecchie impostazioni quando collego un display che ho usato in precedenza.

Testato con guvcview e Google Hangouts, utilizzando due diverse webcam Logitech. Sto eseguendo Ubuntu 13.10 (in realtà Mint Petra) su un Thinkpad T530i.
Correlati:aggiornamento da 10.04 a 11.04?Potrebbe essere necessario modificare lo script se la tua webcam appare come /dev/video3 o qualcosa del genere, come per @hopeithelps. (Forse avrei dovuto farlo scegliere il dispositivo /dev/video* con il timestamp più recente...)
