Smartctl (Tecnologia di automonitoraggio, analisi e reporting ) è un'utilità della riga di comando o uno strumento in un sistema operativo simile a UNIX e Linux che esegue attività SMART come la stampa dell'autotest SMART e dei registri degli errori, l'abilitazione e la disabilitazione del test automatico SMART e l'avvio degli autotest del dispositivo.
Smartctl è utile su server Linux fisici dove gli smart disk possono essere controllati per errori e settori danneggiati ed estrarre informazioni relative ai dischi utilizzati dietro Hardware RAID.
In questo post discuteremo alcuni esempi pratici di smartctl comando, usa i passaggi seguenti per installare smartctl , se non è installato sulla tua scatola Linux.
Installazione di Smartcl in Ubuntu
$ sudo apt-get install smartmontools
Installazione di Smartcl in Redhat / CentOS
# yum install smartmontools
Avvia il servizio Smartctl
Per Ubuntu
$ sudo /etc/init.d/smartmontools start
Per CentOS e RHEL
# service smartd start ; chkconfig smartd on

Dove '/dev/sdb' è il tuo disco rigido. Le ultime due righe nell'output sopra mostrano che la funzionalità SMART è abilitata per il dispositivo.
