Come generare Xorg.conf? (x -configura Segfaults)?

La mia scheda video funziona bene, non ho problemi con lo schermo.
Sto cercando di generare un xorg.conf così ho fatto:

[ Logout ]
sudo service gdm stop
[ Move away xorg.conf.back and xorg.conf.fglrx-0 that were in /etc/X11 ]
sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg
sudo X -configure

Ma quest'ultimo comando segfault:

Nota:ho il file /usr/lib/fglrx/xorg/modules/linux/libfglrxdrm.so

È strano che segfault mentre posso usare Gnome senza problemi ma bene...
Potrebbe essere correlato:ho provato a installare il driver dal sito Web di ATI di recente e da allora glxgears si arresta in modo anomalo all'avvio.

Come posso generare xorg.conf in queste condizioni?
Potrebbe o meno implicare la risoluzione del problema di segfault.

Il driver di Ati ti fornisce aticonfig che è responsabile della gestione di xorg.conf se si utilizza un driver proprietario. Per generare xorg.conf esegui quindi:
